One thing is certain. Going back to school&nbsp;is going to look very different in the Fall. However, we can begin to prepare for each possible scenario for back to school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Do More, Do Away With, Do Less<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Now that you&#8217;ve had a chance to work with your child, think about and ask them how things went for them at home. Think about what went well and you&#8217;d continue this year. What was too much? What was not effective and needs to be changed?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Work with your child to assess:<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>What did they like about distance learning?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Identify the environments that worked best?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>List what was difficult about home learning.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Did they learn better with music on or music off? Learning inside or outside? Typing or writing?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How were any modifications provided? <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Were worksheets and visuals helpful? <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How did the font size of the materials work for you?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How were you prepared to reinforce the material?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What feedback do you have?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>You can discuss this feedback and insights with your child&#8217;s teachers and work them into your IEPs for this year.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Prepare for back-to-school social distancing guidelines with social stories.<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Social stories are a way to visually explain concepts. I have found it useful for my son. Tara at Autism Little Learners has put together several social stories related to Covid-19 to assist with the transition back to school. There is even a social story for wearing masks.
